lily - sometimes, i wonder if i am real.

me - what do you mean?

lily - i mean, i just wonder if i am real.

me - explain that to me, so i can understand what you are saying.

lily - i wonder if this is all just a dream or something like that.

me (after a moment to think about my reply) - well, you know lily - lots of very smart people have wondered that same thing.

(a moment of rain-filled silence)

me - so, if you weren't real - what do you think you would be?

lily (without a moment of hesitation) - a donkey.
